USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS
We understand that not-for-profit organisations may want to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help fill in our grant applications.
We will not reject applications for using AI, as we appreciate it can support organisations in filling in our form. Neither will we penalise any application that has not used AI.
However, we are interested in whether you have used it, and we ask you about this on the form.
Please be aware AI often produces generic content without capturing your organisation’s unique skills, experience and the voice of your beneficiaries. If using AI generated content in your application, it is vital that you carefully review it to ensure it is an accurate representation of your organisation and the work that you do, therefore we recommend caution when using AI generated text.
When we review funding applications, we want to see that organisations understand the challenges, of the beneficiaries they work with, face. It is important to us that we understand your organisation, what you hope to deliver, and the impact it will have.
Please be mindful that AI does not always provide accurate information, and can ‘hallucinate’. Please be mindful of what information you input into AI tools, to not compromise your legal obligations in relation to Confidentiality, personal data, Intellectual Property or similar. Please refer to the Information Commissioners Office for more information about your data protection obligations when using AI. Also be aware that false information, whether AI generated or not, will render the application void.
It is your responsibility to make sure the information provided in an application is a genuine and honest reflection of the work.
Whilst we are increasingly using or looking to use AI tools to support our funding processes and internal governance and financial systems, the Trustees do not use AI for decision making on grant applications.
