Grants are made to assist children and young people up to 25, in financial need, for a wide variety of reasons that can help to improve quality of life.  The beneficiaries must be living in Devon (with a preference for East Devon), and / or the Isle of Thanet in Kent.

All grants are made at the discretion of the Trustees, who use their experience to prioritise applications benefitting the most urgent, needy and local Devon and Thanet residents. Applications from large national charities are discouraged, even if applying for Devon beneficiaries.

Demand for financial help is always in excess of what the Charity is able to award.

The Trust Deed asks the Trustees to consider the ‘care, benefit, support, education, or otherwise for the welfare of children and young persons’, up to the age of 25 only.  Trustees can also particularly focus on applications to:

• ‘Award grants to charitable residential and day care establishments for children and young people, including those who are disabled’;
• ‘Award grants for or towards the maintenance and educational advancement, training and recreation of children and young people’.

Grants are NOT made for the following:

1. Applications that require grants to be paid in instalments, over any amount of time. Only one grant payment will be made for each successful application.
2. For trips outside of the UK, for any reason,
3. To private non-specialist schools, or colleges, or similar institutions
4. For retrospective funding – for events, services or purchases that have already taken place.
5. For flooring or carpeting in a family home

Only one application from any applicant will be considered in any 12 month period. We expect spending of grants to take place within 6 months of receipt for an organisation, or 3 months for individuals/ families. If this can’t be done, please make this clear on the application.
